Cherry Coconut Bars

Ingredients
  Gold medal flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Confectioners sugar 3 Tablespoon
  Eggs 2 , slightly beaten
  Granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Gold medal flour 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Baking powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Chopped nuts 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Coconut 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Quartered maraschino cherries 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Heat oven to 350°
Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
With hands, mix 1 cup flour, butter, and confectioners' sugar until smooth.
Spread thin with fingers in ungreased square pan, 8x8x2".
Bake about 25 min.
Stir rest of ingredients into eggs.
Spread over top of baked pastry (no need to cool).
Bake about 25 min.
Cool.
Cut into bars.
