Apple Oatmeal Bars
|Flour||2 Cup (32 tbs), sifted|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs) (firmly packed)|
|Quick cooking oats||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Shortening||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Apples||4 Cup (64 tbs), sliced (peeled)|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
Add brown sugar and oats; mix well.
Cut in shortening until crumbly.
Press half of crumbs in greased 13 x 9 x 2" baking pan.
Dot with 4 tbsp.butter.
Add apples and sprinkle with the 1/2 c.sugar.
Cover with remaining crumb mixture and dot with the remaining 2 tblsp.butter.
Bake in 350° oven 40-45 minutes or until done.
