Apple And Oats Bar

Ingredients
  Flour 1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), firmly packed
  Quick cooking oats 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Apples 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs), sliced (peeled)
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Butter 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
Add brown sugar and oats; mix well.
Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.
Press half of mixture in greased 8"square baking dish.
Place apples over crumbs; sprinkle with sugar.
Dot with butter.
Sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture.
Bake in 350° oven 4045 minutes.
Cut into bars.
