Butterscotch Nut Bars
|Brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Flour||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Spread in pan, and press 1/2 cup chopped walnuts into batter.
Beat 2 egg whites stiff; add 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
Spread on batter and bake at 350° F. until lightly browned.
