Bacon And Sausage Plait

Ingredients
  Streaky bacon rashers/Back rashers bacon 8 Ounce
  Hard boiled eggs 2
  Flaky pastry/Short crust pastry 12 Ounce
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
  Pork sausage meat 8 Ounce
  Powdered sage/Basil 1 Teaspoon
  Beaten egg 1 (For glaze)
Directions

GETTING READY
1) Preheat the oven to 450F.
2) Chop up the bacon rashers.
3) Chop up the hard-boiled eggs.
4) Roll out the flaky or short crust pastry into a 10-inch square.
5) In a bowl, add in the chopped bacon, eggs, salt, pepper, sausage meat, sage or basil. Mix well.
6) Spoon the above mixture onto the centre of the pastry crust. Leave the sides free of any filling.
7) Slice the sides of the square pastry dough obliquely to get 1/2-inch thick strips.
8) Brush the pastry strips with the beaten egg on one side.
9) Place the strips over the sausage mixture forming a plait-like pattern.
10) Brush the top once more with the egg. Sprinkle a little salt over the plait.

MAKING
11) Place the pastry in the oven and bake for 40 minutes.

SERVING
12) Serve the Bacon and Sausage Plait hot from the oven or even cold. Place a green salad on the side.
