Soak eight 10-inch-long bamboo skewers in hot water to cover for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a wide frying pan, cook bacon over medium heat until some of the fat has cooked out and bacon begins to brown 3 to 4 minutes; bacon should not be crisp.
Drain, then cut each slice in half lengthwise.
Shell shrimp leave tails on and devein.
Wrap a bacon half-slice around each shrimp.
Thread shrimp on pairs of skewers as shown in photo on facing .
Then place on rack of a broiler pan and broil about 4 inches below heat, turning once, until bacon is golden brown and shrimp are just opaque in center; cut to test 6 to 10 minutes.
