1. Remove rinds from bacon slices and chop the bacon finely. Put into a dry frying pan and cook slowly to extract fat, then cook until crisp and golden. Remove bacon bits and reserve.
2. Add enough oil to bacon fat to cook the diced bread in same way as fried bread croutons. When golden brown, remove and drain. Add the bacon bits with pepper
