Asparagus Supreme

  Minced onion 2 Tablespoon
  Butter/Margarine 2 Tablespoon
  Flour 1 Tablespoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Paprika 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Dry mustard 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Worcestershire sauce 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Evaporated milk 1 Cup (16 tbs), undiluted
  Frozen asparagus pieces 30 Ounce, cooked and drained (Three 10 Ounce Package)
  Shredded sharp cheddar cheese 4 Ounce, Processed
  Dry bread crumbs 2 Tablespoon

Cook onion in hot butter in a saucepan until onion is soft, but not browned.
Blend in flour, salt, paprika, dry mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
Heat until bubbly.
Remove from heat.
Add the evaporated milk gradually, stirring constantly.
Bring to boiling; cook 1 to 2 minutes.
Turn asparagus into a 1 quart shallow baking dish.
Pour sauce over asparagus and mix lightly with a fork.
Sprinkle the cheese and bread crumbs over top.
Set under broiler with top of mixture 2 to 3 inches from source of heat and broil 3 to 5 minutes, or until crumbs are lightly browned and cheese is melted.
