Healthycooking's picture
Asparagus with sesame seeds is a skillet cooked vegetable recipe. Tossed with sesame seeds along with soy sauce for flavor, the asparagus with sesame seeds is a flavorful side for meals.
Asparagus 1 1⁄2 Pound, tough stems removed, cut into 1 inch lengths
  Unsalted margarine 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Sesame seeds 1 Tablespoon
Reduced sodium soy sauce 1 Teaspoon
Oriental sesame oil/Peanut oil 1 Teaspoon
  Black pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon

In a heavy 10 inch skillet, bring an inch of unsalted water to a boil.
Add the asparagus and cook, covered, for 3 minutes or until just tender.
Drain in a colander, rinse under cold running water to stop the cooking, and drain again.
Set aside.
In the same saucepan, melt the margarine over moderate heat; add the sesame seeds and cook, stirring, for 3 to 4 minutes or until the seeds are golden.
Return the asparagus to the pan; add the soy sauce, sesame oil, and pepper, and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until the asparagus is heated through.
