Lemon Grass

Lemon Grass is a perennial grass mostly seen in warm tropical regions. Commonly used as a herb, lemon grass is also known by other names like Cymbopogon, barbed wire grass, silky heads, citronella grass, Hierba Luisa, fever grass etcetera. Lemon grass is mostly used fresh, but the dried and powdered varieties are also popular. In culinary front, lemongrass is a preferred ingredient in teas, gravies and soups. Other than these, the herb adds flavor to poultry and seafood delicacies. Oil extracted from lemon grass is also used in cooking. Apart from these, there are a range of medicinal properties the plant is known for.
