Just before serving:
1. Make hot coffee with coffee and water in automatic coffee maker. If using a serving coffeepot, fill it with hot water to heat it before making the coffee.
2. Empty hot water from pot; transfer hot coffee to it. Set pot on tray with cream and sugar, and lemon-peel twists in small dish, if desired. Carry to dining table, or coffee table in the living room. It's traditional for the hostess to pour. For this supper, with its Italian air, use a basket of artichokes or lemons or grapes for your centerpiece.
