Applesauce Cobbler Cake

Ingredients
  Butter 6 Tablespoon
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Applesauce 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Corn syrup 1 Tablespoon
  Cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Granulated sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Baking powder 3 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Vegetable shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

MAKING
1 In a small bowl, cream butter or margarine with brown sugar until fluffy.
2 Stir in the applesauce, corn syrup and cinnamon until well blended. Set aside for topping.
3 Into a medium-size bowl, sift flour, granulated sugar, baking powder and salt.
4 Cut in the shortening with pastry blender until the mixture is crumbly.
5 In a small bowl,beat the egg with milk until blended; pour over the flour mixture and stir just until blended.
6 Drop by tablespoonfuls into a greased 9-inch round layer-cake pan. Spoon the applesauce topping over dough.
7 Bake in a hot oven at 400 degrees for 35 minutes, or until the cobbler cake starts to pull away from the side of pan.
8 Break apart into wedges with two forks.

SERVING
9 Serve warm with cream, sweetened whipped cream or ice cream.(optional)
