|Granulated sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|

Cut 2 circles out of each of 6 slices of bread, one large circle with the top of a custard cup as, pattern, and one small circle with the bottom as pattern.
Then cut two strips, about 4" x 1 1/2", from each of the remaining 6 bread slices.
Brush the circles and strips on one side with some of the melted butter or margarine, and sprinkle generously with the sugar.
Place a small bread circle, buttered side down, on the bottom of each custard cup, then fit two of the strips inside of each custard cup, buttered side out (the ends should just meet).
Fill with applesauce and raisins, mixed.
Cover each with a large circle of bread.
Bake in a moderately hot oven of 400°F for 30-40 min., or until nicely browned.
Turn out of cups and serve hot with cream.
