Apple Sponge is a unique dessert that is both incomparable in its taste and filing. Prepare this tasty Apple Sponge and serve it for your next party, I am sure your guests will love it!!
Ingredients
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Lemon rind 1
  Cooking apples 6 Large, peeled, cored and thickly sliced
For sponge mixture
  Butter 60 Gram
  Castor sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Grated lemon rind 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Eggs 2
  Self raising flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Salt 1 Pinch
  Milk 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
Directions

Mix the sugar, water and lemon rind in a saucepan, boil for five minutes then add the apple slices and Above: Apricot Upside-Down Cake, Pineapple Upside-Down Cake are favorites with every generation. Poach over a gentle heat until tender. Drain off excess syrup and place apples in a round or oval ovenproof dish. Make the sponge by creaming the butter, castor sugar and lemon rind. Beat in the eggs one at a time and when thoroughly incorporated fold in the flour, which has been sifted with salt, alternately with the milk. Spoon the sponge mixture over the apples and bake in a moderate oven 180C (350F) for 40 minutes or until the sponge is risen and delicately brown. Serves 6.
