Granny'S Apple Crunch
|Quick oats||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Uncooked)|
|Sunflower seeds||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground mace||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Granny smith apples||4 , cored and thinly sliced|
|Chopped dates||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Orange juice||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Light cream||3 Tablespoon|
Combine oats, sunflower seeds, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, mace and salt in a medium size bowl; mix well.
With a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
Arrange half the apple slices in a 9 x 9 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle with half the chopped dates; sprinkle with half the oat mixture.
Layer the remaining apples, dates and oat mixture.
Pour orange juice over all.
Bake, uncovered, in preheated 375Â° F oven 35 to 45 minutes.
Serve warm with light cream if desired.
