Baked Apple Butter
|Cider||1 1⁄2 Quart|
Peel, core and quarter apples, adding enough water to cover.
Simmer in a large pot until they reach sauce consistency.
Stir in the cider, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar.
Pour the mixture into an enameled roasting pan.
Place in a 350Â° oven.
Stir occasionally, until the mixture boils.
Then turn down the oven to 250Â° and bake 5 hours, or overnight.
Ladle the thick apple butter into sterilized jars and seal for storage.
