Rosy Baked Apples

Ingredients
  Baking apples 24 Large
  Gelatin 12 Ounce
  Sugar 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Boiling water 3 Quart
  Baking apples 24 Large (Rome Beauties Preferred)
  Gelatin 12 Ounce (Red Fruit-Flavored)
Directions

Wash and core apples. Peel a 1-inch circular strip from stem end of each. Dissolve gelatin, sugar, and salt in boiling water in baking pans. Place apples, peeled ends down, in liquid. Bake about 20 minutes; then turn apples, peeled end up, and continue baking, basting frequently, until tender, about 1 hour. Cool, basting occasionally. Serve with cream, ice cream, or whipped topping, if desired.
