|Cooking apples||4 Large|
|Brown sugar||1 Tablespoon (adjust quantity as needed)|
1 Lightly grease an oven proof dish.
2 Preheat the oven to 350°F/ Gas mark 4
3 Wash the apples and remove the cores completely.
4 Carefully cut a shallow slit round the middle of each apple.
5 Put the apples in the prepared dish.
6 Fill up the centre hole of each apple with brown sugar.
7 Put a knob of butter on each apple.
8 Bake them in a moderate oven for about 1 hour.
9 Test the apples with a skewer-€”they should be tender in the centre.
10 Excellent with milk pudding.
