Wash, peel and core the apples.
Slice thinly into a container with a cover and add a small amount of water.
Cover and bring to a boil.
Steam until the apples are soft, then mash.
Add 1 cup sugar to each gallon apple pulp, then bring to a boil.
Pack in hot sterilized jars to 1/2 inch from top.
Place lids and rings on the jars.
Process in a waterbath canner for 10 minutes.
Remove jars from water and cool away from drafts.
