Baked Apples With Almonds And Currants
|Sugar free sweetener tablet||2 , powdered|
|Grated orange rind||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Clove powder||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Blanched peeled almonds||1 Tablespoon, chopped|
|Black currants||1 Tablespoon|
|Vanilla essence||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Heat oven to 150°C (300°F).
Wash and core apples.
Peel skin from about 1/2" off the tops of apples.
Mix butter, sweetener, orange rind, spice powders, almonds, black currants and vanilla in a small bowl.
Divide into 4 portions.
Stuff apples with filling, pressing it down with the back of a teaspoon.
Pour water into a baking dish to a depth of 1/2" Arrange stuffed apples in water and bake in preheated oven for about 25 minutes till soft.
Serve hot or cold.
