Apple Brown Betty
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), melted|
|Fresh bread crumbs||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Sliced pared cored apples||6 Cup (96 tbs)|
|Granulated sugar/Brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Grated lemon peel||1 Tablespoon|
|Lemon juice||2 Tablespoon|
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Toss butter with crumbs; arrange one third of this mixture in greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.
Cover with half of apples and half of combined sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and lemon peel.
Cover with one third of crumbs, rest of apples and rest of sugar mixture.
Spoon on combined lemon juice and 1/4 cup water.
Top with rest of crumbs.
Cover; bake 30 minutes.
Uncover; bake 30 minutes longer or until apples are done.
