Honey Crunch Baked Apples
|Baking apples||6 Large|
|Chopped walnuts/Almonds||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Lemon juice||2 Teaspoon|
|Honey||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Butter/Margarine||3 Tablespoon, melted|
|Apple juice/Water||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Half and half||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Light Cream)|
Peel apples, if desired, and core; stand upright in a 9-inch square baking pan.
To make filling, combine granola, dates, walnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and 3 tablespoons of the honey.
Spoon equal amounts of filling into center of each apple (pack filling in lightly).
Combine the remaining honey with butter and apple juice; pour over apples.
Cover and bake in a 350° oven for 30 minutes.
Remove cover and bake, basting with pan juices several times, until apples are tender when pierced (about 35 minutes longer).
Serve warm or cooled.
At the table, pass a pitcher of cream to pour over each apple.
