Baked Apple with Vanilla Ice Cream
|Green apples||4 Medium (crispy)|
|Cinnamon stick/1 1/4 teaspoon powdered||3 Inch, broken or ground|
|Allspice berries/1/2 teaspoon all spice||14 , ground|
|Nutmeg||1⁄8 Teaspoon, grated|
|Brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Cold butter||3 Tablespoon|
|Lemon||1⁄2 Medium (juiced)|
|Golden raisins||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Prunes||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (dried)|
|Walnuts/Other nuts||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), chopped|
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Butter a deep baking dish that has a lid.
Core the apples but do not peel them. Arrange them in the dish. Cut apples
to fit, if necessary.
Combine all remaining ingredients in bowl. Mix well (this is where grating
the butter comes in handy). Stuff this mixture into the holes and spaces
in and between the apples.
Bake covered at 400 degrees F. for about 30 minutes. Serve hot with
vanilla ice cream.
