New England Baked Apples
|Lemon juice||2 Teaspoon|
|Almonds||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), slivered|
|Raisins||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Cinnamon||2 Teaspoon, ground|
Remove cores from washed apples, making a large cavity in each apple.
Peel thin circle around cavity and sprinkle with lemon juice.
Mix together almonds, raisins, brown sugar and cinnamon.
Place in cavities and put each apple in a small custard dish with 2 tablespoons of water in dish around apple.
Dot each apple with 1 teaspoon of butter.
Microwave for 5 minutes on high.
Let stand 2 to 3 minutes and serve.
Fresh apples may be used, filling centers with butter and sugar and cooking each apple for 3 minutes on high.
If the above receipe is too sweet, decrease brown sugar to 1 tablespoon.
