Apple Brown Betty
|Soft breadcrumbs||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Melted butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Canned apple sauce||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Lemon juice||2 Tablespoon|
|Lemon rind||1⁄2 Teaspoon, grated|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Mix breadcrumbs with butter in skillet.
Cook and stir over low heat until crumbs are lightly browned.
Pour half of the crumbs into a shallow 1 1/2 quart casserole.
Spread evenly over bottom.
Mix apple sauce with sugar, lemon juice and rind and spices.
Spoon over crumbs in casserole.
Top with remaining crumbs.
Bake in a 350° F.oven for 30 minutes or until top is well browned.
