Yams With Apples And Currants

Ingredients
  Yams/2 cans 1 pound each yams, drained 4 Medium, cooked, peeled, and sliced
  Dark corn syrup 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Dried currants 2 Tablespoon
  Butter 2 Tablespoon
  Lemon juice 1 Tablespoon
  Tart apple 1 Large, peeled and thinly sliced
  Blanched almonds 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Arrange yams in buttered shallow casserole.
Combine remaining ingredients and cook over medium heat until apple slices are just tender.
Pour over yams in casserole.
Cover and bake in a 350° F.oven for 15 minutes or until bubbly.
This casserole can be prepared in advance, refrigerated and baked at serving time.
Add 15 minutes to cooking time.
