Classic Apple Brown Betty

Ingredients
  Margarine 1 Ounce
  Grated nutmeg 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Fresh breadcrumbs 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Lemon juice 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Lemon rind 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Apple slices 2 Pound
  Hot water 1⁄4 Pint
  Brown sugar/White sugar 2 Ounce
Directions

Melt the margarine, add the crumbs, and mix well.
Put alternate layers of crumbs and apples in the dish, sprinkling each layer with sugar, nutmeg, and lemon rind, finishing with crumbs.
Pour over the water and lemon juice and bake in a moderate oven until the apples are cooked and the pudding brown on top.
