Professional Life of Chef Wylie Dufresne

 

Born in the year 1970 in Providence, Rhode Island, America Chef Dufresne obtained the graduate degree of The French Culinary Institute in New York followed by a B.A. degree in the year 1992 in philosophy from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Between 1994 and 1999 he worked with Jean-Georges Vongerichten, eventually going on to be named sous chef. Thereafter, Wylie Dufresne worked in a few more restaurants assuming the position of the chief chef In the year 2003, he began a 70 seated restaurant known as wd~50 (after his initials and street address, hinting a pun about WD-40) on the Clinton Street at Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Chef Dufresne has won many awards and nominations. He was nominated by the James Beard Foundation nominee as the Rising Star Chef of the Year in 2000 as well as being chosen the by New York Magazine for the New York Awards in the same year. Wylie Dufresne was nominated by the Food & Wine magazine among one of America's Ten Best Chefs award. In 2006 his restaurant wd-50 was ranked in the fourth position in the list of 101 best restaurants in New York by Adam Platt of the New York Magazine. Thereafter his restaurant also won the Michelin's Star and he got nominated under Best Chef New York through the James Beard Foundation.
