Waldorf Salad

Waldorf Salad is one of the most preferred salads and is an integral part of most restaurants across US. The salad got its name from the famous Waldorf Hotel in New York where it was created somewhere between 1893 and 1896. Waldorf salad recipe is a favorite with most due to its excellent tastes and easy to prepare method. It is the perfect salad for an appetizer that can be enjoyed before the main entrée or even consumed as a light meal. Waldorf salad recipe has many variations; however, some of the main ingredients include apples, grapes, celery and walnuts tossed in a mayonnaise dressing. Other variations that can be added to make Waldorf salad more interesting include chicken, turkey and dry fruits such as raisins and dates. Alternately, yoghurt dressing can also be added to this salad to make it a perfect dish for calorie conscious diners.
