Sandra Lee

Sandra Lee is a cook, author and television presenter, She is renowned for her "semi homemade" cooking style and concept that involves 30% fresh products and 70% pre packaged products.

 

 

Personal Life  of Chef Lee
Lee and her sister, Cindy spent their kindergarten days at their paternal grandmothers house. When she was 6 her mother divorced and moved them to Washington. 5 years later her mother divorced for a 2nd time and Lee played the role of a mother for her five younger siblings. She helped the family in day to day activities like buying groceries, handling finances and preparing meals. Later on in life Lee went to the University of Wisconsin -La Crosse. Sandra also attended the world's top culinary art institute, Le Cordon Bleu and gained her first structured education on culinary arts.

 

She was married to Bruce Karatz, philanthropist and CEO of KB Home for 4 years. Currently she is dating Andrew Cuomo, Governor of NY and lives with him in Chappaqua, NY.

 

Chef Sandra Lee – Television Shows and Products
In 1990 Sandra devised a product  - Sandra Lee Kraft Kurtains, a home décor tool that utilizes sheets, wire racks  or other fabric samples to design decorative drapery. The product is sold well through Cable networks and infomercials. Soon after, Home Shopping Network hired her as on air talent and in 2 years Sandra sold $25 million worth of items.

 

Her rise to fame came with the widely popular Food Network television show – Semi Home Made Cooking with Sandra Lee.  In each episode of the show Sandra shows how to decorate the table with respect to the theme of the food using various arts and crafts elements. She describes the process as tablescapes.

 

Sandra also featured in another popular Food Network show – “Sandra’s Money Saving Meals” that began airing on 10th May 2009. She has authored 22 books and some of them are NY times best seller.  Inspired by her show a magazine called “Dandra Lee Semi Homemade” was released in 2009. In November 2007, her memoir – “Made From Scratch” was released.

 

Since 2002 she has sold in excess of 4 million books and has been felicitated with the prestigious International Gourmand Award for “Best Easy Cookbook.” In mid 2011, Sandra will release her latest book -  the Sandra Lee Bake Sale Cookbook.

 

Achievements of Chef Sandra Lee

Sandra was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award for her involvement with many philanthropic and charitable institutions,

Awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2009 which is recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate for  her contributions made to society.

Sandra is the national spokesperson for Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign

She is a founding member of the Los Angeles chapter of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF

She was the celebrity chef for and GoEat LA in 2009 and DineOut LA in 2008, raising funds for Aid for AIDS International (AFAI).

She took part  in Harvard Business School’s annual Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference and has taught as a guest lecturer at Yale University’s School of Management.
