Some of the distinct ingredients used in Hawaiian cuisine are taro, an ancient plant in New Guinea, coconut, Polynesian arrowroot, candle nut or kukui, etc. Some of the spices used are teriyaki, wasabi, soy sauce, five spice, chilli pepper water and so on.

Lomi salmon, kalua pig, lau lau, loco moco, saimin are some of the popular names in Haiwaiian cuisine. Poke is another traditional dish which uses raw fish, sea salt and seasonings made of kukui nuts and seaweed. Hawaii is famous for its cocktails such as Mai-Tai or blue Hawaii. Okolehao, made from ti plant, is a traditional liquor.
