Alabama Slammer is a ‘fruity cocktail’ and it has a slightly sweet flavored cocktail. The Alabama Slammer cocktail has asilky smooth texture. Though there is no much evidence of the origin of the Alabama Slammer cocktail, it is believed that drink was invented in the University of Alabama in 1975 in the United States. Yet another name for the Alabama Slammer is the ‘Southern Slammer’. Though the drink is alcoholic in nature, it does not have a strong taste of alcohol. The Alabama Slammer can be consumed as a shot or a cocktail.

 

Ingredients and Popular method of preparing Alabama Slammer

 

The typical Alabama Slammer includes- Amaretto, Sloe Gin, Southern Comfort, Triple Sec, Galliano, and Orange Juice. The above mentioned ingredients of the Alabama Slammer are poured into a cocktail shaker with ice. The mixture is shaken vigorously to blend well and it’s completely chilled. Once the ingredients are mixed well, strain the cocktail and it can be served in a High ball or Collins glass. The Alabama Slammer can be garnished with a cherry and an Orange slice, and served along with a straw.

 

Variations to the Alabama Slammer

 

There are a wide range of variations available for the Alabama Slammer available and also variations one can make. One of the noted variations to the drink is the Red Death Cocktail, which is made by mixing the Alabama Slammer with Kamikaze. Kamikaze is a mix of Vodka, Triple Sec and lime juice. The death Race is also served in Collins glass or Highball glass. Alabama Riot is a variation to the Alabama Slammer cocktail which can be easily done at home. The ingredients for the Alabama Riot cocktail includes-Southern Comfort, Vodka, Peppermint Schnapps, lime juice, and fruit punch. The only difference is the lime juice is added to the mixture once the cocktail is made and ready for serving.
