|Shortening/Oil||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Stew beef||10 Pound|
|Flour||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Liquid||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
Brown onions in shortening slowly until browned. Add meat, water, salt, and pepper. Cook 1 1/2 hours, or until meat is tender. Cook potatoes and carrots in salted water until tender. Drain and add to meat. Shake flour and 2 1/2 cups liquid in glass jar. Add to stew and cook to desired consistency. Correct seasoning, if needed.
