In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Basic Fried Green Tomatoes. This is the easiest and quickest way to make a delicious, traditional Southern summer side dish.
1 Cup (16 tbs), in a shallow dish (white or yellow)
Salt and pepper
1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (as needed)
1. Wash tomatoes, and slice into desired thickness (about 3/8 inch).
2. Dip tomato slices in cornmeal and fry in hot oil until brown, turning only once.
3. Remove from pan and place on paper towel to drain. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
