Collards and New Year Drinks 12-28

Ingredients

For the collard greens
Collard greens 1 Bunch (100 gm) , washed (washed and rinsed)
Ham hock 250 Gram , chop
Red pepper flakes 1 Teaspoon
Water 4 Cup (64 tbs) , divided
For the jack frost
Crushed ice 1 Cup (16 tbs) , divided
Creme de menthe 1 Teaspoon , divided
Jack daniels 3 Ounce , divided
Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon , divided
Gingerale 100 Milliliter , divided

Directions

FOR THE COLLARD GREENS

GETTING READY

1. Wash and rinse the collard greens.

2. Remove the thick steam and roll the leaves and slice them.

MAKING

3. In a two separate stock pot put boil water and add the collard leaves in one and let it boil in the water for few minutes.

4. Remove and drain the collard greens and then again put them back in the second stock pot and boil them for few minutes, this is called double boil method.

5. Add the ham hock and red pepper flakes, reduce the water to almost dry.

SERVING

6. Serve the collard greens as a side to your roast turkey or chicken.

FOR THE JACK FROST

MAKING

1. Put crushed ice in to glasses.

2. Top it with creme de menthe, jack daniels, vanilla extract.

3. Lastly top it with gingerale.

SERVING

4. Serve the jack frost drink chilled along with your meal.
