This timeless treat works perfect for any holiday throughout the year and is enjoyed by all ages. This ooey gooey chocolatey treat will bring a smile to all faces.
Butter | 3 Tablespoon | |
Marshmallow | 5 Cup (80 tbs) , divided | |
Red food coloring | 3 Drop (or more to get desired color) (Optional) | |
Rice crispy cereal | 6 Cup (96 tbs) | |
Chocolate chip | 11 1/2 Ounce (milk, dark or white) |
GETTING READY
1. Grease a piece of parchment paper with non-stick cooking spray along with heart shape cookie cutters.
MAKING
2. Place a large sauce pan over medium heat, add butter and 4 cups of marshmallows in it. Stir and cook for 8 minutes or until marshmallows melts.
3. Add few drops of red food coloring and mix well.
4. Add the remaining cup of marshmallows and rice crispy cereal in pan. Fold to combine.
5. Place cookie cutter on parchment paper, butter you hands and carefully spoon the rice crispy into the cutter. Using your fingers press and spread evenly.
6. Carefully remove the cookie cutter and allow for the rice crispy treats to set and harden slightly. Repeat the process until all the mixture has been used.
7. In double boiler or microwave melt the chocolate chips.
8. Dip half of the heart shape rice crispy treats into the chocolate and set aside to harden. Repeat the process with the remaining treats. Allow it to cool.
SERVING
9. Serve rice crispy treats and enjoy!
TIPS
You can also add additional decorations to your treats to make it look beautiful.
To speed up the cooling process, cover and place rice crispy treats into the fridge for 20 minutes.
You can store leftover rice crispy treats in an air tight container for 2 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.
If you are planning to freeze, separate each treat with a piece of parchment paper. Place it into a resealable bag and then into the freezer.
