Southern Style Marinated Asparagus

Ingredients
  Asparagus spears 1 Pound
  Italian salad dressing 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Chablis/Other dry white wine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Tarragon vinegar 1 Tablespoon
  Dried whole basil 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Dried whole oregano 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), crushed
  Romaine lettuce leaves 4
Directions

MAKING
1 Remove the tough ends of asparagus.
2 Using a knife or a vegetable peeler, remove the scales.
3 In a pan, add the asparagus along with a small amount of boiling water.
4 Cook, covered for 6 to 8 minutes or until crisp-tender.
5 Drain well.
6 In a jar add the next 7 ingredients.
7 Cover tightly, and shake vigorously to blend.
8 In a shallow bowl, place the asparagus.
9 Pour the dressing over asparagus.
10 Cover and place in the refrigerator and chill overnight.
11 Drain well.

SERVING
12 On a lettuce lined plate, arrange the spears.
