Southwestern Beef & Beans

Ingredients
  Dried pinto beans 1 Pound
  Cold water 6 Cup (96 tbs)
  Salt pork 1⁄2 Pound, cut up
  Lean chuck steak 1 Pound, cut into 1-inch cubes
  Red chili pepper/1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1
  Onion 1 Medium, chopped
  Garlic 2 Clove (10 gm), minced
  Canned tomato paste 6 Ounce (1 Can)
  Chili powder 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Cumin seed 1 Teaspoon
  Marjoram leaves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Soak beans in water overnight.
Brown salt pork in skillet or slow-cooking pot with browning unit.
In slow-cooking pot, combine soaked beans (with water), browned pork, and remaining ingredients.
Cover and cook on low for 9 to 10 hours.
Makes 8 servings.
