Glorified Cheese Strata
|White bread slice||6|
|Garlic||1 Clove (5 gm), crushed|
|Heavy cream||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|White wine||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Swiss cheese||1⁄2 Pound, grated|
|Chicken bouillon||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Dry mustard||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Trim crusts from bread.
Cream butter and garlic and spread on one side of bread slices.
Arrange bread, buttered side down, in buttered 1 1/2 -quart casserole.
Beat eggs and cream together until foamy.
Stir in wine, cheese, bouillon, mustard, and paprika.
Pour sauce over bread.
Bake, uncovered, in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for 25 minutes.
