Swiss Apple Charlotte
|Sliced peeled tart cooking apples||6 Cup (96 tbs) (Thinly Sliced And Cored)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Lemon juice||1 Tablespoon|
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Fine dry bread crumbs||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Heavy cream/Sweetened whipped cream||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), sweetened|
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Mix apples with sugar, lemon juice, and nutmeg to taste and arrange in a buttered 2-quart casserole about 2" deep, scattering small pieces of butter through the apples as you fill the dish.
Top with crumbs, cover, and bake 35-45 minutes until apples are tender; uncover and bake 10 minutes longer to brown crumbs lightly.
Cool about 5 minutes, then serve with cream.
