Coconut Apple Betty

Ingredients
  Tart apples 4 Large, peeled, thinly sliced
  Soft bread crumbs 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Flaked coconut 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1 Dash
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Salted almonds 12
Directions

Arrange layer of apple slices in shallow baking dish.
Cover with some of bread crumbs and coconut.
Sprinkle with some of sugar, salt, and cinnamon; dot with butter.
Repeat until all ingredients are used.
Arrange nuts around edge of mixture.
Cover; bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for 35 minutes.
Uncover; bake for about 10 minutes longer.
