Southern Style Round Steak

Ingredients
  Round beef steak 1 1⁄2 Pound, cut about 3/4 inch thick
  Nonstick spray coating 5
  Sweet potatoes/Yams 3 Medium, peeled and sliced 1/2 inch thick
  Onion 1 Large, cut into thin wedges
  Green pepper 1 Medium, cut into 1/2 inch strips
  Canned tomatoes 16 Ounce, cut up
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Dried thyme 1⁄2 Teaspoon, crushed
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Bottled hot pepper sauce 1 Teaspoon (Use Several Dashes Of Sauce)
  Cornstarch 1 Tablespoon
  Cold water 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Cut meat into six serving-size pieces; pound to 1/4- to 1/2-inch thickness.
Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.
Spray a Dutch oven with nonstick coating.
Brown meat, half at a time, in the Dutch oven.
Return all meat to Dutch oven.
Top with sweet potatoes, onion, and green pepper.
Stir together undrained tomatoes, sugar, thyme, pepper, and hot pepper sauce.
Pour over meat and vegetables.
Cover and bake in a 350° oven for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat and vegetables are tender, occasionally spooning sauce over mixture.
With a slotted spoon, transfer meat and vegetables to a serving platter; keep warm.
Skim fat from pan juices.
Stir together cornstarch and water.
Add to juices.
Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly, then cook and stir 2 minutes more.
Spoon over meat and vegetables.
