Gourmet Beef Stew

Ingredients
  Beef stew meat 3⁄4 Pound
  Flour 1 Tablespoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening 1 Tablespoon
  Canned tomato sauce 6 Ounce (1 Can)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), minced
  Bay leaf 1
  Thyme 1 Dash
  Monosodium glutamate 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Dry red wine/Consomme / water 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Vinegar 2 Tablespoon
  Carrots 2 , peeled and sliced
  Potato 1 , diced
  Stalk celery 1 , sliced
  Onions 2 , peeled and cut into eighths
  Frozen green peas 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Coat meat with mixture of flour and salt.
Preheat browning skillet for 4 1/2 minutes.
Add shortening.
Add meat and brown on all sides for 1 minute.
Add tomato sauce, seasonings, wine and vinegar.
Set oven to medium or to automatic defrost cycle.
Cover and cook 50 minutes, stirring 2 times.
Add potato, carrots, celery and onions; and microwave for 9 minutes.
Add peas; microwave 1 minute.
