Waldorf Salad With Dates
|Lemon juice||3 Tablespoon|
|Chopped walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (For Garnish)|
|Pitted dates||1⁄4 Pound|
|Shelled walnuts||1⁄4 Pound|
|Sour cream||4 Ounce|
Peel and core 5 cooking apples.
Quarter the apples and cut into thin slices lengthwise.
Marinate in 3 tablespoons lemon juice and 3 tablespoons sherry.
Cut 4 sticks of celery crosswise in thin slices.
Cut 1/4 lb. dates into shreds.
Break 1/4 lb. shelled walnuts into small pieces.
Salt and pepper slightly.
Mix with the apples.
Combine 4 oz. mayonnaise with 4 oz. sour cream.
Pour over the apples.
Serve in a glass bowl with a few chopped walnuts sprinkled on top.
