Honolulu Squares

  Sifted cake flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted
  Honey 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Nutmeg 1 Teaspoon
  Egg whites 4 Large
  Milk 2 Tablespoon
  Moist shredded coconut 1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)

Preheat oven to 350°.
Grease two 8x8x2-inch pans and line with waxed paper.
Sift flour, salt, soda and sugar together in mixing bowl.
Add melted butter or margarine, honey, nutmeg, egg whites and milk to flour mixture.
Mix well.
Do not overbeat.
Stir in coconut.
Pour into prepared pans.
Bake 35 minutes or until top is firm when lightly touched.
Turn cakes out on wire racks.
Remove waxed paper at once.
Cool thoroughly.
Place on board; cut each cake into 16 squares with electric knife.
