Ham And Cheese Strata
|Whole wheat bread slices/White bread slices||8 (Firm Textured)|
|Shredded sharp cheddar cheese||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Minced cooked ham||4 Ounce (1 Cup)|
|Eggs||4 , lightly beaten|
|Milk/Half and half||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Cayenne pepper||1 Pinch|
|Prepared yellow mustard||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Butter an 8"x8"x2" baking dish and arrange 4 slices of the bread on the bottom. If the bread will not fit neatly, trim off the crusts. Sprinkle the slices with half the cheese and all the ham. Top with the remaining 4 slices of bread.
2. Beat the eggs, milk, salt, cayenne pepper, and mustard together, and pour the mixture evenly over the bread to the edges of the pan. Top with the remaining cheese and dot with the butter. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the egg mixture is set. Serve hot with Red Cabbage with ples, or Spinach Dressed with Oil and Vinegar.
