|Buttermilk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)|
|Cocoa||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Cream shortening, gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer.
Add beaten egg and egg yolk, beating well.
Dissolve 1 teaspoon soda in hot water, add buttermilk, and set aside.
Combine flour, cocoa, 1/2 teaspoon soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Mix until all ingredients are moistened.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets, bake at 400Â° for 8 minutes.
Cool slightly on cookie sheets; remove to wire racks to cool.
Spread flat side of half the cookies with Fluffy Filling, top with remaining cookies, flat side down.
