Chuck Wagon Boiled Beans
|Great northern dried beans||4 Cup (64 tbs), washed and drained|
|Dark molasses||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Hot red pepper pods||1|
|Bacon fat||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Onions||2 , quartered|
|Liquid smoke/Powdered smoke||1 Teaspoon|
Cover beans with cold water; bring to a boil.
Boil for 2 minutes, cover pan, and let stand for 1 hour.
Do not drain.
Add water, if needed, to cover.
Add remaining ingredients.
Cover pan and simmer until tender, adding more water if necessary to keep from sticking.
