Maine Sauerkraut

Ingredients
  Sauerkraut 2 Pound (Fresh)
  Apple 1
  Vegetable oil 2 Tablespoon
  Onion 1 Medium, chopped
  Textured vegetable protein/2 vegetable burgers, cubed 2 1⁄4 Ounce (Half A 4 1/2 Ounce Packet)
  Potato 1 Large, grated
  Caraway seeds 1 Tablespoon
  Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Directions

Prepare the sauerkraut.
Peel, core and slice the apple.
Heat the oil in a deep saucepan and saute the onion until it is lightly browned.
Add the TVP chunks and saute for a further 5 minutes, stirring often.
Add the potato and caraway to the pan and cover with the water.
Bring to the boil, then simmer, covered, for 1 hour over a low heat.
Stir occasionally, adding extra water if necessary.
