Southern Boston Baked Beans

Ingredients
  Navy beans 2 Pound
  Soda 1 Teaspoon
  Tomatoes/1 cup canned tomatoes 2 Large
  Apple 1 Large
  Onion 1 Large
  Prepared mustard 1 Tablespoon
  Molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 3 Tablespoon
  Vegetable salad oil 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
Directions

Wash beans; soak in lukewarm water overnight.
In the morning parboil the beans.
In the very last stages of parboiling, add the soda.
Rinse in cold water, drain.
Prepare a heavy stone bean jar.
In the bottom place
Add beans, cover with water, and cover jar.
Bake slowly 6 hours, adding water as needed.
The last 2 hours bake rather dry before adding water.
If necessary to brown, leave cover off during last hour.
